About Neighborhood Business Alliance
The Neighborhood Business Alliance (NBA) is an information and advocacy organization and is made up of representatives from all 20 neighborhood associations. The NBA meets quarterly to share best practices and advocate on issues effecting neighborhood businesses and districts.
The twenty neighborhood business districts that make up the City of Grand Rapids are as diverse and unique as the individual businesses that call each of them home.

The awards program recognizes new businesses, notable neighborhood economic development successes, and the investment and commitment in 20 neighborhood business districts in Grand Rapids. The NBA begins accepting peer-nominations for businesses in the 20 neighborhood districts in July, and the awards selection committee then chose the winners from the list of nominees.
Competition for the Grand Rapids Sandwich of the Year
The Grandwich competition is a battle between area restaurants, delis, cafes, bakeries, etc. to create a sandwich that earns the title sandwich of the year for Grand Rapids, or “Grandwich”. Each participating business will create their version of what the Grandwich should be. It doesn’t have to be a savory, lunch time food. It can be a breakfast sandwich, a dessert sandwich. The options are endless.
